I think that parents are somewhat to blame for overweight children, because they often opt out of making a home-cooked meal for an easy, high caloric one (as you raised in your paper). They should make it a priority to provide a balanced diet for their children so the kids can live happy and healthy lives. As for advertisement, I think that fast food restaurants have the right to promote their businesses, even though their products are usually unhealthy.
I think that parents are to blame overweight children. Parents are responsible for the health and wellbeing of their children and should promote a healthy living style to the best of their ability.
What parents can do to limit children's fast food consumption is vigilantly watch any items they purchase on their regular basis, including breakfast foods, snacks, beverages, and especially larger proportioned food such as food for dinners, because sometimes choosing items like wheat bread over white for lunches can only help their children in the long run.
I agree that parents should encourage a healthy lifestyle and are responsible for serving healthy and nutritious meals to their children. That being said, children are stubborn, especially picky eaters, and having no experience in childcare or parenting it's hard for me to place all the blame solely on parents. Fresh, organic, non processed foods can be very expensive and not all families can afford them. I think it's our duty to support programs which educate people about how to live a healthy lifestyle and which make healthy foods more accessible or more affordable for the less fortunate. Instead of blaming others, we should focus on what we can do ourselves, because ultimately we have no control over how other parents raise their children. Also, sports are an amazing and easy way to introduce a healthy lifestyle to children.
Parents who choose the meals that their children eat are responsible for the obesity their children develop. They can enroll in a class to learn to feed a family healthily on a low budget. Fast food places should definitely have limits expressed on how much they advertise to children to help fix this epidemic.
I think that this is a huge issue especially in America, fast food companies take advantage of children through advertising and parents should be able to stand up and say no when their kids ask for this type of food. I also think that people should have better access to healthier foods because when they don't, they choose unhealthy alternatives
i think that parents are to blame in the sense that children pick up eating habits at an early age and if parents dont set their kids up with good eating habits, they wont have a strong will power when they become teenagers and young adults.
I defnitely think parents are to blame because they are the ones that establish a kid's understanding of what a proper portion size is. They are supposed to guide kids through these decisions and teach them what to do and what not to do in relation to how much food they eat.
I think that by teaching kids healthy eating habits when they are young, parents are furthering the idea to their children that it is important. Fast food companies have a right to advertise, but as consumers, parents should teach their children what they should and shouldn't be eating. Fast food may be cheaper than buying healthy ingredients for a nutritious meal, but in the long run it is definitely worth the investment.
I think parents have a responsibility to keep their kids healthy, which includes monitoring what they're eating. This could bring up a problem, if the parents are obese themselves. So for the health of both the kids and the parents, fast food intake should be minimal. We do have freedom of speech, so I understand their advertisements, but the parents should be able to say no if their child excessively asks for fast food.
I don't think that parents are totally to blame for child obesity, but I do believe that they have the power to prevent it. By stocking up on fruits and vegetables, parents provide a healthier alternative to fries and cookies. To limit fast food consumption, parents should establish a plan in which their children receive their fast food treat either once a week, once every two weeks, once a month, etc. It should be balanced with healthy eating and good exercise habits. Fast food is, unfortunately, cheaper and easier to access than most healthy ingredients. I hope children are taught, at an early age, the benefits of eating healthy as it will definitely be advantageous in the long run.
Parents have the ability to monitor what their child eat and have nutritious food on hand rather than junk food. Parents should also educate their children in nutrition and have a variety of healthy and delicious food to show children smart and healthy food doesn't have to be the less tasty choice.
I don't think that parents are necessarily to blame for childhood obesity since there are so many factors that play into the issue. However, I do think that parents have a responsibility to their children to make sure to the best of their ability that they eat healthily and exercise enough, as obesity is a threat to children and parents are responsible for protecting and raising them.
Although disallowing fast food companies from advertising would be ideal, I think that simply stocking one's pantry with fruits and vegetables and encouraging exercise (perhaps team sports? those are cool) is the way to go.
I think that parents, to the best of their ability, should make sure fridges and pantries are stocked with fruits and veggies, not cookies and chips!
